Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of DoorstepHQ, operated by Cyrus Glennon. By creating an account you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. About DoorstepHQ

DoorstepHQ is a business management platform for independent service operators and small field service businesses. The platform provides tools for scheduling, estimates, invoicing, client management, and payment processing.

DoorstepHQ is a software platform only. We are not an employer, staffing agency, or labor contractor. We do not employ, supervise, or direct any service operator. All services provided by operators using the platform are the sole responsibility of those operators.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to enter into these terms.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at support@doorstephq.com if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Payment Processing

DoorstepHQ uses Stripe to power DoorstepHQ Payments. By connecting your bank account through DoorstepHQ Payments you agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and the Stripe Services Agreement.

Platform fees: DoorstepHQ charges a platform fee on payments processed through DoorstepHQ Payments. The current platform fee percentage is displayed in your account settings and may be updated from time to time with notice. You may choose to pass this fee to your clients or absorb it yourself.

Payment processing fees: Standard card processing fees apply to all transactions in addition to the DoorstepHQ platform fee. Full fee details are displayed during payment setup.

Payouts: Funds are transferred to your connected bank account typically within 2 business days after a payment is processed, subject to Stripe's payout policies.

Disputes and chargebacks: You are responsible for resolving any disputes or chargebacks initiated by your clients. DoorstepHQ may assist in providing documentation but bears no liability for payment disputes.

5. Subscription Plans

DoorstepHQ offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as selected. You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days notice. Your continued use of a paid plan after price changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

6. SMS Communications

By creating an account and providing a phone number you consent to receive transactional SMS messages from DoorstepHQ including booking confirmations, appointment reminders, invoice notifications, and account alerts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. SMS and MMS mobile messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

When you collect phone numbers from your clients and enable SMS notifications for them you are responsible for ensuring you have obtained proper consent from those clients before sending them SMS messages through the platform.

7. Phone Add-on

The Phone Add-on provides a dedicated business phone number, voicemail, two-way SMS, call recording (when enabled), and outbound calling. By subscribing to the Phone Add-on you agree to the additional terms in this section.

Compliance with telecommunications laws. You are solely responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local telecommunications laws, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CAN-SPAM, state telemarketing laws, and call recording consent laws (including two-party consent requirements in California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington). DoorstepHQ provides tools to support compliance (recording disclosure prompts, opt-out handling, consent tracking) but cannot ensure compliant operation on your behalf.

Consent. You represent that you have obtained valid prior express consent from each client before sending automated or marketing SMS through your business number. You are responsible for honoring opt-out requests (STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, and similar) regardless of the channel through which they are received.

Call recording disclosure. When call recording is enabled, you must ensure all participants on a call are properly notified, either through the auto-disclosure prompt provided by DoorstepHQ or through your own verbal disclosure. Disabling the auto-disclosure does not release you from any state-law obligation to obtain consent.

Content responsibility. You are solely liable for the content of all calls and messages sent or received through your number. You may not use the Phone Add-on to send unsolicited bulk messages, deceptive or fraudulent communications, content that violates carrier acceptable-use policies, or content prohibited by applicable law.

Velocity limits and abuse detection. DoorstepHQ enforces per-operator velocity limits on outbound SMS to protect platform deliverability and prevent abuse. Limits are based on account tenure and may be adjusted from time to time. DoorstepHQ may automatically suspend your Phone Add-on without prior notice if outbound usage exceeds a threshold indicating potential abuse, until the activity can be reviewed.

Carrier registration. Sending application-to-person (A2P) SMS in the United States requires registration with mobile carriers. DoorstepHQ facilitates this registration on your behalf using business and identity information you provide. You represent that all information provided for registration is accurate and complete. If carriers reject or revoke your registration, DoorstepHQ may suspend or terminate your Phone Add-on.

Suspension and termination. DoorstepHQ may immediately and without notice suspend or terminate your Phone Add-on for any of the following: violation of these terms, complaints from your clients or third parties, carrier-imposed suspensions, regulatory inquiries, or activity inconsistent with legitimate small-business communication. Upon termination of the Phone Add-on, your number will be released and any unsent messages or unanswered calls may be lost.

Indemnification specific to Phone Add-on. In addition to the general indemnification below, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless DoorstepHQ from any claim, regulatory action, fine, or carrier penalty arising from your use of the Phone Add-on, including claims under the TCPA, state recording laws, or carrier acceptable-use policies.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use DoorstepHQ to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Send spam or unsolicited communications
  • Process payments for illegal goods or services
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform
  • Use the platform for any purpose other than legitimate business management

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the platform complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction including laws regarding licensing, taxes, and consumer protection.

9. Content You Provide

You retain ownership of all content you create through the platform including client information, invoices, estimates, and business information. By using the platform you grant DoorstepHQ a limited license to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the platform services.

You represent that you have the right to provide all content you enter into the platform and that doing so does not violate any third party rights.

10. Privacy

Your use of DoorstepHQ is subject to our Privacy Policy which is incorporated into these terms by reference. The Privacy Policy includes important information about payment data processing by Stripe and SMS communications through Twilio.

11. Intellectual Property

DoorstepHQ and its licensors own all rights to the platform including all software, design, trademarks, and content created by DoorstepHQ. These terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the platform.

12. Disclaimers

The platform is provided as is without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law DoorstepHQ disclaims all warranties express or implied including warranties of merchantability fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

DoorstepHQ does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted error-free or free of viruses or other harmful components.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law DoorstepHQ shall not be liable for any indirect incidental special consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform. In no event shall DoorstepHQ's total liability exceed the amount you paid to DoorstepHQ in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DoorstepHQ and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses including reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these terms, or your provision of services to clients.

15. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. DoorstepHQ may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or if required by law or our payment processor. Upon termination your access to the platform will end and we will handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Iowa.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through an in-app notification at least 30 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
